FINISHER #61

  • by

Name: Lomme De Herdt

Residence: Geel / Belgium

Year of birth: 2001

Bike: Ridley Kanzo A

Riding period: 4 july 2025 – 1 september 2025 ( 59 riding days plus 1 restday)

Most favourite part: The descent into Grense Jakobselv was pure magic. For me, it wasn’t just a stretch of trail… it was the true beginning of the adventure, where excitement and anticipation collided with the raw beauty of the far north.

Later, in Spain, Los Campos stood out for its unique atmosphere. Its rough and unforgiving character contrasted with an almost overwhelming sense of calm. Harsh, remote, and untouched… yet exactly the kind of purity that makes the European Divide Trail unforgettable.

Random Thoughts:

You could ride across the whole of Sweden on gravel alone.

How did the other guys on gravel bikes get through the southern part? It’s so tough!

I’m beginning to think Spain is just one endless mountain range.

“Doubletrack Andy” strikes again (pushing through a brutal section of the trail while a perfectly smooth road runs right beside it.)

If it’s hard, just keep going — it’s easy. (to the melody of a Tim Krule song)

Grateful to everyone who became part of this journey, no matter how small their role was.
