Most favourite part:
My favourite countries were Finland and Sweden. Specifically, for the endless forest roads, lakes and little but very meaningful contact with locals, who will offer you help anytime. I’ve spend an afternoon with a family in their house where they offered me to make use of their sauna, and enough tea and kanelbullar for a lifetime.
I believe the northern stretch is perfect for people who are looking for a meditative experience, as doing the same thing for weeks will enable you to reflect on life and see things from a different angle.
In France, I mostly liked the Vosges and beautiful area of Jura. All the amazing views will make up for the physical exhausting hike-a-bike sections and climbing.
In my opinion, Spain was probably the most demanding part physically. You believe you are almost finished, but there is still a long way to go and trails are either climbing or descending. Riding this country, I really enjoy some little asphalt roads or normal gravel stretches. In the end, I even preferred climbing over riding downhill. I tried to equip my bike as light as possible which made the crazy hike-a-bike and uphill stretches more comfortable and enjoyable. The part of Sierra de Cazorla will forever be engraved in my memory.
Random Thoughts:
I love my bike
I hate my bike
Time to do some Andy-shit doo-daa doo-daa (while pushing your bike up some kind of hiking trail)
I need to eat more veggies
Give me all the bocadillos with jamon
Thanks, Thoralf, Max and Christian for the parts we rode together.
